SHARK Week begins Sunday, July 22nd!

In Port Clyde we have an abundance of seals but few sharks (cue the happy seal dance). When my girls, Sienna and Alex were little they went to summer camp at the Herring Gut Learning Center which had a tank full of dogfish (little sharks with very sharp teeth).  Although the Herring Gut Learning Center no longer has the dogfish tank they still have amazing summer camp programs for kids.

*TIP—If you truly want to make this the best shark week ever you can still go see dogfish- they have a tank at the Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay where you can pet one!

Many have fond memories of Ade Mersfelder from his Monhegan “Rockcrest Shop” days. They remember his pencil sketches, rock paintings, bird pottery and hand crafted lobster buoys.
